Classic Album Review: Las Ketchup | Hijas Del Tomate

Remember when this was going to be The Next Macarena? Yeah, me neither.

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

The flamenco-flavoured samba-pop single The Ketchup Song, I have been assured, is going to be “The Next Macarena.”

If by that they mean, “A painfully annoying and pointless piece of brainless dance-pop fluff that marketers are going to stuff down our throat until I want to pick up a gun and ventilate the next person I hear humming it,” then I can sincerely hope they’re wrong. As should you.
