Classic Album Review: Gary Moore | Scars

The British blues-guitar hero returns to the rock for this harder-hitting release.

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

British guitar god Gary Moore’s last album was Back To The Blues. This one could be called Return Of The Rock. Or perhaps Back To The Future.

Moore reconnects with the louder, grittier side of his roots here, fronting a solid, propulsive power trio and wrenching some seriously searing solos from his wickedly sharp axe on a slate of blues-based rockers. It’s still a ways from his work with the immortal Thin Lizzy, but it’s the closest he’s come for some time.
