Tiff Hall is a proud Free Woman on her big, bold and bluesy new single — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
A preview of the Edmonton singer-songwriter’s upcoming EP, the song features Hall’s trademark powerhouse vocals. “I wanted to try and capture the energy that the band and I can feel from the stage,” says Hall. I wanted it to sound like you just walked into a live-music venue — loud, sweaty, crowded, and with the smell of stale, old beer — and you’re smacked in the face with my big, loud mouth. We did it! “
Hall has been a performer in Edmonton for over 10 years, whether on duelling pianos, hosting a wildly popular piano-karaoke show or even playing her beloved accordion. Her presence is electric. Her new batch of songs are juicy and flavoured with hints of old-school soul, funk, and an extra helping of good ol’ rock ’n’ roll. Hall’s new four song EP was recorded live off the floor to help capture the excitement of her live show, allowing her to channel her inner performer in a new and challenging way.
Free Woman was written by Hall and recorded at The Audio Department in Edmonton. Backing her are synth player Vicky Berg, guitarist Drew Malcolm, bassist Ajay Paterson and drummer Kevin Brereton.
