Mauvais Sang | 3h47

HOME BASE: France / Switzerland / United Kingdom.
GENRE: Indie Rock.
THE EDITED BIO & PRESS RELEASE:Mauvais Sang are a rock band divided between London, Paris and Geneva. Combining noise-rock, literary songs and classical/contemporary music, they form a unique and unprecedented fusion. They are named after the film directed by Leos Carax — also known as The Night Is Young — and depicts the creative concept and the uncanny mix of all genres, just like Mauvais Sang’s music mixes daring saturated and nervous guitar sounds and the bright and majestuous voice of the harp. Mauvais Sang will release their first album on April 8. 3h47 is their second single from the album. It depicts the bestiality of the nightlife world, divided between hunters and prey. Powerful, striking and boosted by a side of techno, 3h47 is a hymn, with these obsessive final words chanted through a megaphone: ‘Toute sortie est définitive (Any exit is final)’ ”

Her sound can be described as soulful and poetic, whilst always giving the listener that extra layer to unfold with her exceptional writing. Her angelic vocal tone boasts smooth jazzy melodic runs as well as truly catchy hooks. One could say she‘s the logical conclusion of the transition from the 2000s Destiny’s Child era to the new wave of artists such as SZA or Solange. ‘This song is probably one of the most honest I’ve ever written,’ she says. ‘It’s for everybody who has ever been hurt by being vulnerable, but at the same time the song gives hope and courage to trust and love again. It’s a mix between old-school R&B from the ’90s such as Aaliyah and new-school R&B from today with artists like Summer Walker.’ ”

The first single Street Noise is a bridge from a quieter, more personal world into a more bombastic and upfront sound. ‘On Street Noise I really wanted to make a song that felt like a journey and took you from one place and left you at another,’ Tarn says. Mixing together bedroom pop, folk, alternative and then completely switching this in the bridge was something I’d always wanted to experiment with.”
