Albums Of The Week: Chris Pope & The Chords UK | Big City Dreams

The veteran singer-guitarist and his latest lineup offer bracing Clash-style punk laced with dashes of Mott-style rock, reggae and more on their latest studio set.

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Helmed by founding member and singer-songwriter Chris Pope, The Chords UK were formed in 2013 to continue playing classic tunes such as Maybe Tomorrow, The British Way Of Life and So Far Away — but also, to develop a new identity, a new sound and new songs with a contemporary harder edge.

Chris has been described by Paul Weller as “the best songwriter of his generation.” And his band with Kenny Cooper and Sandy Michie have been called “an incendiary rock n roll outfit.” And after years of touring, including dates in Europe and the USA, and with the release of two critically acclaimed albums — Take On Life (2016) and Nowhere Land (2018) — they’re earned all this praise and more.”
