Johnny Dowd | Silk Scarf + Mystery Woman: Exclusive Premieres

The twisted roots troubadour doubles your pleasure with two Valentine's treats.

Johnny Dowd introduces you to a Mystery Woman and sells you with a Silk Scarf for Valentine’s Day with his new single and his latest video — both premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.

Never one for half-measures, the twisted roots troubadour delivers not one but two dark treats for lovers and loners everywhere. First, warm up your sweetie’s mood with a previously unreleased version of Mystery Woman, a lovelorn ode to a topless dancer that first appeared on Dowd’s 1999 album Pictures From Life’s Other Side. This stripped-down, slowed-down, toned-down version was captured on tape at Sun Studios in Memphis in the fall of 2021, and features the amazing guitarist Will Sexton joining Johnny.

But as any good carney pitchman will tell you, that’s not all, folks. Take things to the next level with Johnny’s new video for Silk Scarf, a cut from Dowd’s latest album Homemade Pie. Because what could be better on Valentine’s Day than a slow blues shuffle that begins with the words “You don’t love me anymore,” before moving on to the desperately misguided proclamation: “I love you more than I love my mother.”

More romantic than roses, sexier than chocolate, cheaper than a Ferrari. Get them both and you’ve done Valentine’s Day Johnny style.
