WIN Digital Tickets to Sweet Alibi’s DreamCast Streaming Show

The Winnipeg combo kick off the B.C. venue's 2022 season with an incredible set.

The Dream Cafe and Tinnitist have teamed up to give you a Sweet Alibi for free.

On Monday, The Dream Cafe in Penticton, B.C., kicked off its 2022 hybrid show season with an incredible DreamCast performance by Winnipeg’s Sweet Alibi — and you can win free passes to the streaming show right now (see below for details).

Sweet Alibi are the distinct and complementary voices of Jess Rae Ayre, Amber Nielsen and Michelle Anderson, joined by Alasdair Dunlop on bass and Jon Smith on drums. Their music has garnered national accolades and awards, has been featured on MTV, CMT, and received major radio play on college/community and satellite radio. Their most recent song Confetti charted in the Top twenty for eight weeks.

The band are about to release their fourth studio album Make A Scene, recorded with producers Matt Peters and Matt Schellenberg (Royal Canoe, Begonia). The album is a melodic experience focused on hooky guitar lines and layered beats, inspired by the likes of Alabama Shakes and Bahamas. Sweet Alibi’s sound has been evolving and refining throughout their past album releases, extensive Canada wide and international touring, as well as a focused effort to draw on the creative efforts of their favourite influences.

Recorded live on Sept. 18, 2021, the show is just one episode in The Dream Cafe‘s DreamCast performance series. These special shows are aiming to bring back old fans of the Cafe and make some new ones by showcasing great Canadian talent safely and effectively. “The music industry relies on this venue as an anchor of Western Canadian artist routing and is widely seen as a safe place to launch a concert tour or profile an emerging artist,” says Lori Keith, the Dream’s co-op chair.

The shows that make up the performance schedule feature acts as varied as Juno-nominated folk legend Harry Manx, world-renowned jazz pianist (and Juno winner) Laila Biali, and the critically acclaimed blues guitarist David Gogo. These shows have been filmed the evening of the actual performances, and (after some editing) will be made available online for a week, for fans viewing pleasure. Ticket buyers receive a link to watch the event for free during the seven days it is available (included in the cost of their in-person ticket), and others (who are unable to attend, or who won’t be in Penticton) will be able to buy a ticket for $15 for the week that their chosen show is online. Be it live, or watched at a later date — be it with friends, or family, or by your lonesome — this is a tremendous way to experience The Dream Cafe from the comfort of your couch, from any corner of the world, and in a way that suits you and your schedule.
