Jay Douglas Wishes You A Swingin’ Merry Christmas

The Toronto singer trades relaxed reggae rhythms for boisterous big-band brass.

Jay Douglas jazzes up the holidays with his new single Merry Christmas — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

Trading his relaxed reggae and R&B rhythms for the upbeat grooves and punchy horns of a boisterous big band, Douglas’s Merry Christmas channels the sound and style of seasonal classics by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. While it might not be characteristic of his sound, the cut still does a great job of painting a clear picture for the listener — all while feeling warm and inviting. The award-winning artist’s unparalleled energy and charm, coupled with energized production, create the perfect addition to your holiday soundtrack.

One of Toronto’s many hidden treasures, Douglas was born in Jamaica and got his start performing in Montego Bay. Gifted with a natural charisma in addition to his vocal talents, he has been active in the entertainment industry for 45 years, showcasing his vast repertoire and unmatched energy. He won NOW Magazine’s award for Best R&B Act in 2006 and the Toronto Reggae Awards’ Male Reggae Vocalist of the Year in 2007.
