Meneely Brant Anticipate Tough Times In New Single & Video Coming Days

The Edmonton rock duo serve up the deceptively groovy title cut from their EP.

Meneely Brant get in the groove to make it through hard times ahead in their new single and video Coming Days — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The title track from their recent debut EP, Coming Days is the latest standout from the Edmonton duo of singer Al Brant and keyboardist Dennie Meneely, who previously served as members of rock outfit Tacoy Ryde during their 20-plus years on the Alberta music scene.

Coming Days is driven by Dennis’s fantastic and inventive piano playing and an infectious vocal track from Al — complemented and layered beautifully with the harmonies of an uncredited, and powerful, female voice. On top of these key sonic elements, there’s an incredibly emotional and melodic guitar solo right at the end, which makes for a fitting grand finale.

Released in November, the EP also features Just an Illusion, This Time for Sure, Unexpected and End of the Line. It was recorded at Danlyn Studios in Sherwood Park, Alberta. All the numbers are built from strong melodic and harmonic structures, intelligent and thoughtful lyrics, and top-drawer performances. The two speak highly of each other’s writing styles, saying that there’s an almost “telepathic understanding” of where the other will/wants to go in the middle of the writing process.

“I’ve always gravitated towards rock and roll and that’s evident here,” says Brant, while Meneely adds: “We’re carrying this torch for fusion rock … but that’s just who we are.”
