Lennon's Isolation returns in a blistering performance for the icon's 80th birthday.

Every now and then, the best Late-Night TV Music clip does not air on late-night TV. No, I’m not playing mind games. I’m just trying to give you some truth. And letting you know that today’s finest moment comes courtesy of Sean Ono Lennon, who shared a blistering, stripped-down version of Isolation on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s YouTube site to mark what would have been John Lennon’s 80th birthday.

You don’t really need anything after that — though of course, you get some anyway. And to be fair, the rest of the brief slate was undeniably sunny and enticing. Take your pick between Lele Pons and Guaynaa, performing Se Te Nota on some sort of weird giant houseboat stage for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Surfaces, taking to the a much-humbler patio to play their song Sail Away on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Hey, whatever gets you through the night.
