Late-Night TV Music (MGNFSCCC Theme Night Edition) | Sept. 15, 2020

Yola and Kesha are two of a kind, but Anthony Ramos clearly didn't get the memo.

In the immortal words of Meat Loaf: Two out of three ain’t bad. Especially when the two in question are Yola and Kesha — aka the headliners of our latest Theme Night here in LNTVM HQ.

That theme, for those who weren’t paying attention, was: Mononymous Grammy-Nominated Female Singers Cover Classic Cuts (or MGNFSCCC, naturally). First up: Yola, leading her band through a gospel-laced rendition of Nine Simone’s To Be Young, Gifted and Black from the Ryman Auditorium for Late Night with Seth Meyers. Then you had Kesha, who opted to be underdressed, glam and silver for her body-painted rendition of T. Rex’s Children Of The Revolution on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Of course, there’s always somebody who didn’t get the memo. And on this night, it was singer-songwriter Anthony Ramos, who violated every aspect of the theme by being a two-named dude singing his own song Stop on a rooftop for The Late Late Show With James Corden. Get with the program, dude.
