Late-Night TV Music (Colbert Comes Through Edition) | July 27, 2020

Fallon might be the only game in town, but Colbert has come to play too.

As I mentioned in Sunday’s On TV post about this week’s late-night musical lineup, things are going to be fairly quiet for the next few days. But perhaps not quite as quiet as I predicted. Yes, The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon is the only chat show hosting a slate of performers  — they kicked off the week with the above clip of Chronixx wandering through a abandoned factory while delivering his single Cool As The Breeze / Friday. But as the informercials say, that’s not all: To their credit, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert are once again posting musical performances online even thought they’re not broadcasting. This morning’s contribution: Tove Lo lip-synching (I presume) to her electro-pop ditty Sadder Badder Cooler. And just to flesh this out a bit, I also included Friday’s clip of Devendra Banhart crooning Taking a Page from his most recent album Ma. Nice. Fingers crossed they’ve got some more goodies lined up for the rest of the week.
