Replacements fans have plenty to be pleased about this fall. The Minneapolis post-punk rebels’ 1987 album Pleased To Meet Me is the next title get the expanded reissue treatment, following last year’s Dead Man’s Pop (an upgrade of 1989’s Don’t Tell A Soul). Pleased To Meet Me — which features classics like Alex Chilton, The Ledge, Shooting Dirty Pool and the iconic Can’t Hardly Wait — returns Oct. 9 in a 3CD/1LP box that includes demos, B-sides, rough mixes, outtakes and alternates, most of which have never been released before. Here’s what the press release has to say: “The making of Pleased To Meet Me was a transformative journey for The Replacements, one that began with the combustible Minneapolis combo on the brink of collapse and culminated in one of the definitive albums of the band’s career. That transformation is chronicled in-depth on the group’s latest boxed set.” Can’t hardly wait, indeed. Of course, you may feel differently. In which case, there are plenty of other new albums to choose from — including The Killers’ long-delayed return Imploding The Mirage and Logic’s supposedly final release.
