Late-Night TV Music (Double Bill Edition) | May 18, 2020

Corgan or Withers? On Monday night, your choice was pretty simple.

Billy Corgan or Bill Withers? When it came to Monday’s late-night TV lineup, the choice was simple. Those who prefer Corgan could watch the Smashing Pumpkins head delivering a solo acoustic rendition of his song Hard Times on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (I can only assume his decision to dress like an old-movie hobo was part of the whole performance). Meanwhile, those who prefer the late great Withers could enjoy singer Andra Day — without her trademark headwrap for a change — covering the master’s Ain’t No Sunshine and Use Me on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. And if you didn’t like either of those options, well, you could always watch Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey singing Some People Do on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Though really, why anyone would want to do that is beyond me.
