Late-Night TV Music (Morrissey & More Edition) | May 13, 2019

The Moz dominates the televised proceedings on an otherwise-slow Monday night.

Let’s get right to the point: Morrissey made a rare live television appearance on Monday, singing Jobriath’s ’70s glam obscurity Morning Starship — from his upcoming covers collection California Son — on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. You really don’t need anything more than that. And in fact, the Moz’s tune was nearly all the live music on the airwaves that night. The only other performance came from fellow Englishman James Bay, who presented his solo ballad Bad on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Fair enough. But just to give you a little more bang for your buck, here are a few stray clips that popped up after Friday’s posting: Vampire Weekend covering Bob Dylan’s Infidels number Jokerman on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and London trip-hoppers Hælos dropping Oracle and End of World Party on Last Call With Carson Daly. They’re no Morrissey, but still, not bad.
