Late-Night TV Music (Easy Does It Edition) | Feb. 21, 2019

Anderson .Paak, Joji & Ben Platt play it cool on the tube.

I don’t know about you, but I like my Fridays nice and easy. And it’s great that the late-night musical performances were on board with that for a change. Case in point: California’s Anderson .Paak, who got the ball gently rolling (with a little help from a vintage Rodney Dangerfield Tonight Show appearance) with his lighthearted performance of Trippy on, yes, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Meanwhile, over at The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt didn’t rock the boat with his piano ballad Bad Habit, from his hew album Sing to Me Instead. And finally, Japanese singer Joji (whose real name, improbably, is George Miller) seals the deal with the mellow Slow Dancing in the Dark and Will He on Last Call With Carson Daly. Fingers crossed the rest of the day goes as smooth.
