Late-Night TV Music (Double Down Edition) | Jan. 10, 2019

Gary Clark Jr., Disturbed and Love Jones prove that once is not enough.

Sometimes less is more. This is not one of those times. After giving music lovers the short end of the stick with just two performances on Wednesday, the late-night talk shows made up for it with a slew of performers doing double duty. And delivering the goods. First up was Texas blues-rocker Gary Clark Jr., who returned to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to crank out two topical, hard-hitting tracks from his upcoming album This Land. Meanwhile, over on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, ’90s lounge lizards Love Jones reconvened to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their Here’s to the Losers album by performing the title cut and Ohio River (with the latter featuring an enthusiastic assist from Fallon). On a louder (and far less enjoyable) note, nu-metal lunkheads Disturbed have also reunited, and visited Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s outdoor stage to play the rocker A Reason To Fight and the power ballad Are You Ready. The only act that didn’t present two songs last night: Flatbush Zombies. But their rampaging performances of Headstone on The Late Late Show With James Corden — which featured a marching band and more classic rap lines than a K-Tel hip-hop album — more than made up for the lack of an encore.
