Late-Night TV Music (Ballads Edition) | Nov. 15, 2018

Troye Sivan, Dean Reynolds & Jorja Smith bring the ballads. Barns Courtney does not.

Turns out you can stop the rock after all. At least for one night. That was the case on Thursday as the talk shows turned down the lights, unplugged the amps and let the balladeers take centre stage. First on the roster was the magnificently coiffed Troye Sivan, who returned to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon for the second time this week to sing Revelation, from the soundtrack of his film Boy Erased. Want something even more poignant? Check out Late Late Show host James Corden‘s introduction to Dylan Reynolds. The British host discovered his music — including the song he performed, No Control — while scrolling through the Twitter feed of Reynolds’ late childhood friend Mac Miller. For the female perspective, switch over to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, where English singer-songwriter Jorja Smith delivered Don’t Watch Me Cry from her debut studio album Lost & Found. Need a break from all that balladry? Last Call With Carson Daly comes to the rescue with singer-songwriter Barns Courtney‘s rawboned performances of Golden Dandelions and Glitter & Gold. Let there be rock.
