Late-Night TV Music (Embarrassment of Riches Edition) | Nov. 14, 2018

How much new music video do you need in one day? This much? OK, then.

Sometimes you just get more than you bargained for. Way more. Wednesday was one of those times — assuming you’re talking about the plethora of musical extras in the late-night lineup. Start with the highest-profile appearance of the night: Resurgent pop queen Kesha (I never know whether to use the $ sign in her name anymore) joining The Struts in a rollicking version of Body Talks on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Then switch over to Jimmy Kimmel Live, which had more country music than you could shake your truck nuts at: Along with two songs by Kane BrownLose It and Good As You, to be precise — the show also included a new Country Edition of Mean Tweets and a decent comedy number from recent guest Jake Owen entitled Where the F**k Did I Park My Truck? Late Night With Seth Meyers had just one performance — a rather lacklustre version of Eighteen by British indie outfit Pale Waves — but considering Meyers hasn’t had much music lately, it was still something of a bonus. As always, Last Call With Carson Daly took up the slack with two numbers from its musical guest: British rockers The Wombats, who cranked out Bee-Sting and Lethal Combination. And for those who still haven’t had enough, here’s the latest five-song episode of CBC’s First Play Live, starring New Wave revivalist Art d’Ecco. What more could you possibly want?
