Monday, Nov. 5

• Canadian pop-rocker Bryan Adams was born on this day in 1959. Interestingly enough, American roots-rocker Ryan Adams was also born on this day in 1974. Go figure.

Tuesday, Nov. 6

• In 1970, Aerosmith performed their first gig at Nipmuc Regional High School in Mendon, Mass. Five years later, The Sex Pistols played their first gig at St Martin’s School Of Art in London.

• This would have been Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey‘s 70th birthday — he was born on this day in 1948. Frey died on Jan. 18, 2016 due to complications from rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and pneumonia.

Wednesday, Nov. 7

• In 1991, guitarist Izzy Stradlin quit Guns N’ Roses and was replaced by guitarist Gilby Clarke. He left over Axl Rose‘s behaviour and the difficulties of staying sober around Slash, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan.

• Canadian folk poet Leonard Cohen died on this day in 2016 at the age of 82 at his home in Los Angeles. Speaking of Canadian folk poets, Joni Mitchell is celebrating her 75th birthday — she was born on this day in 1943.

Thursday, Nov. 8

Led Zeppelin released their untitled fourth album on this day in 1971. It has gone on to sell over 37 million copies worldwide.

Friday, Nov. 9

• In 1961, Brian Epstein saw The Beatles play live for the first time during a lunchtime session at The Cavern in Liverpool.

• The first issue of Rolling Stone Magazine was published in San Francisco in 1967. It featured a photo of John Lennon on the cover and came with a free roach clip.

• In 1969, Simon and Garfunkel recorded Bridge Over Troubled Water. The song won five Grammy Awards in 1971, including Record and Song of the Year.

Saturday, Nov. 10

• On this date in 2015, singer-songwriter Allen Toussaint died at age 77 while on tour in Madrid, Spain.

Sunday, Nov. 11

Motorhead drummer Phil (Philthy Animal) Taylor died at age 61 in 2015.
