The Brother Brothers double down, Soulfly spoil the Rapture, Car Astor hits the brakes, Ben Rogers goes Nowhere, Balms take wing and more in today’s Roundup. Friday, Friday is a good time to shine:

| Identical-twin folk duo The Brother Brothers show their true colours on a live performance of the Simon & Garfunklesque Red & Gold from their debut disc Some People I Know. SEZ THE PRESS RELEASE: “Leading up to their full-length debut, The Brother Brothers garnered widespread critical acclaim.” Oh, brothers:

| Metal heroes Soulfly have a few choice words for religious types on the lyric video for their unholy single Under Rapture, from their brand-new album Ritual. SEZ THE PRESS RELEASE:Under Rapture is a crushing song and I was on board the second I heard it. It was truly an honor for me to have been part of this. I think it’s a sick song both musically and lyrically,” commented guest vocalist Ross Dolan of Immolation. Fire it up:

| Electro-pop powerhouse Car Astor puts things in black and white in the new video for her song Girlfriend. SEZ THE PRESS RELEASE: “The futuristic and tense video features stark and haunting cinematography, dazzling choreography, and impressive 3D/CGI special effect work. The visual perfectly represents the insatiably catchy song, accenting the electronic and angry vibes the tracks exudes.” Step on it:

| Americana singer-songwriter Ben Rogers is a man on the move — despite the title of the B.C. homeboy’s dusky new single Steady Going Nowhere, which he released to commemorate his new record deal with Dallas Green’s new label Still Records. SEZ THE PRESS RELEASE: “The song is about the streets and alleys of East Vancouver and it’s dedicated to the people who call those streets and alleys home,” says Rogers. Move it:

| All aboard — San Francisco dream-rockers Balms‘ darkly chiming new single Planes is ready for takeoff. It comes from their debut concept album Mirror, due in February. SEZ THE PRESS RELEASE:Mirror is our debut as well as double-sided concept album. The album’s narrative is a journey-of-self; an exploration confronting the shadow-aspect of the soul.” Look at it from their perspective:

| Dutch rockers Northward step forward on the live-action lyric video for their hard-hitting single Storm In A Glass, from their self-titled debut full-length. SEZ THE PRESS RELEASE: “The music is melodic, but also in your face and kick ass rock. Cool riffs, good melodies, tasteful arrangements. We would simply like to call it ‘Good Music’.” You follow?
