Late-Night TV Music | Oct. 8, 2018

K-Pop mob NCT 127 and Fifth Harmony's Dinah Jane liven up the long weekend.

Even musicians get long weekends off. And since it was Columbus Day in the U.S. on Monday — not to mention Canadian Thanksgiving — the musical roster on the late-night talk shows was predictably thin, with just a couple of performances. The good news: One of them was pretty insane. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 10-member (no, seriously) K-Pop boy band NCT 127 made their American TV debut, mobbing the outdoor stage in their complementary outfits to deliver their songs Regular (above) and Cherry Bomb (below). Aside from that assault on the senses, the other option was Fifth Harmony’s Dinah Jane, who showcased her debut solo number Bottled Up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with just a little help from Ty Dolla $ign and Marc E. Bassy. And that’s all she wrote, music fans. But just so you don’t leave the table hungry, I also included North Carolina roots-rock outfit American Aquarium’s Friday appearance on Last Call With Carson Daly: A twofer of Crooked+Straight and One Day At a Time, live from the Troubadour. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to recruit 42 friends to start a hip-pop band.
