Late-Night TV Music | Sept. 5, 2018

Paula Abdul, Dave Matthews and Sheryl Crow rock the box.

Nobody’s firing on all cylinders the first week back from holidays. That includes the late-night TV talk shows, which are still ramping up their musical performances. On The Late Show With James Corden, dance-pop diva Paula Abdul put on the biggest show of a slow night, resurrecting her ’80s hit Straight Up with the help of some sophisticated video screens and choreography. Meanwhile, over on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dave Matthews and his band delivered two suitably jammy cuts from their recent album Come Tomorrow. And Sheryl Crow got funky with her scathing new single Wouldn’t Want to Be Like You on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Pity her recent collaborator St. Vincent didn’t join in. She was missed. And if you missed any or all of them, here you go. Enjoy.
