Thom Yorke unveils Suspiria soundtrack cut | Listen

Radiohead frontman gets creepy on atmospheric piano ballad

Thom Yorke might not be the most obvious guy to score a horror movie, but that clearly didn’t stop director Luca Guadagnino from recruiting the Radiohead frontman to create the music for his remake of Italian filmmaker Dario Argento‘s 1977 classic Suspiria. Here’s the first preview cut from that soundtrack: A plaintive piano ballad, fittingly titled Suspirium. If you were expecting something inspired by the original ’70s soundtrack featuring synth-prog exorcists Goblin, think again. While Yorke’s number definitely delivers some unsettling atmospherics, it sounds more like an album-closing cut than a soundtrack soundscape. Hear for yourself while you wait for the full score to be released on Oct. 26, just in time for Halloween.
